"This gripping novel is so insightful and on-trend it is almost futuristic, encompassing a multitude of modern day issues and dilemma's . Many stones are turned throughout the saga. The internet's developing use, sexuality and football's seemingly unending money gravy train. Dark humour that smacks of 'London Fields' coupled with an unprecedented, ironic, takeover of a football club which has the direst of consequences . If 'Millwall' is judged as a novel surrounding football then this rivals 'Fever Pitch' as the number 1 in that genre, that alone does not apportion nearly enough praise or justice to the research, manner and depth to the many stories that are entwined. Modern day politics and the art world's functioning are both excellently satirised and questioned.
Hornby and O'Farrell should draw their elbows in and make way for Bardsley at the top table for contemporary fiction authors."
