Yung Lake's Stormchasers: Earth Time

One of the few bad parts about being me is living with the knowledge that earth is constantly teetering on the edge of total annihilation. How does a regular sixteen-year-old know this, you wonder? I don’t usually drop names, but my mom told me. She’s Mother Earth. My name is Yung Lake. I’m a normal extreme-teen who learned of my past lives and true identity recently. In the process, I gained all the knowledge and abilities I had acquired during them. When I discovered I had previously lived as my own brothers and sisters a dozen times before, and I’m caught in a continuous chain of reincarnation, well, it was an enlightening experience. As a child of Mother Earth, my sixteenth birthday was when I gained the ability to try and stop Father Time’s Golden Triangle of storms from ending the civilized world. There is another bad part to being a child of Mother Earth. I told you there were a few. We all die at the end of our sixteenth year unless we manage to banish Father Time for eternity. If his last molecule and wisp of spirit goes away, the earth will return to a Garden of Eden existence. I’m not alone in this task. There are also many others hidden away until their appointed times. We are the ones who don’t know who we really are until we are sixteen. That’s also when we receive our special gift. Some are healers. Some control the elements. Others speak to beasts. Few receive more than one gift. So now it’s my turn to stop Father Time from destroying the earth, or whatever. I don’t really see the big deal, though. The extreme weather he’s created has resulted in some awesome surfing conditions right here on the East Coast of the United States of America. Still, the part about me dying in a year is really starting to mess with my head. But if I’m going out, it’s going to happen in a big way. So open up my story, and read if you dare. Maybe you can deal with the truth in its pages? If you do, I hope you also open your mind to the struggle. You must decide! Will you help, or simply watch the world end?
