On Saturday the 24 March 2018 I attended the inaugural Peterborough Comic-Con event at the Cresset Centre, Bretton. It was to be my first Comic-Con too. After a few days of feeling nervous leading up to the event and wondering if I’d feel like a fish out of water, the big day arrived. Attired in my specially printed “Long Ears Legacy” tee shirt, I set up my table with my two Elvenite helpers, my daughter Elenya and her partner Cory (Elroy for the day), also wearing their same tee shirts but accessorised by some very fetching pointed elf ears. We then waited to see what the day would bring. What it brought was a really brilliant experience.
I sold two books even before the doors opened to one of the traders who professed to be a fan of fairies and elves. I got to meet some delightful and colourful people throughout the day that ranged from a very cute Blue Fox to a scary Ursula from Disney’s Little Mermaid as well as a host of Star Wars and other Sci-Fi and Fantasy characters. I got the opportunity to talk about the books to genuinely interested and lovely people and even got to sell a fair few too. I am planning to be at their second Comic-Con event next March and I would say to any of you self-published authors out there, who write either Fantasy or Sci-fi books, look out for a Comic-Con near you for a great day out.
