We are very pleased to announce the winners of the Little Brown competition to win an editor critique are as displayed below. Thank you to everyone for entering and there is a further competition during April to win a critique from an editor from Random House, who publish authors such as Dan Brown, by reading and answering questions about some more 6 page extracts. Click on New Competition at the top of this page to enter. Closing date for the new competition is 30th April 2012, and we hope in the extracts you may also find your next good read!

Arts Council funded free publishing site FeedARead.com is pleased to host a competition with a prize of a critique for the winner’s opening chapters from an editor for Piatkus, part of the Little Brown group who publish books such as the Twilight series. To enter, entrants must read a brief extract and answer a question about The Apothecary’s Daughter by Charlotte Betts, a YouWriteOn.com Book of the Year Award Winner, now out in paperback and published by Piatkus. All nationalities are welcome to enter.


Read the first few pages from The Apothecary’s Daughter by Charlotte Betts on the link below the book's cover image below, and answer the question below to enter the competition. The winner, who will be chosen at random from the correct entrants, will receive a critique for their opening chapters from a Piatkus editor, part of the Little Brown group, and the winner and 3 runners-up will each receive a copy of The Apothecary’s Daughter. Closing date for entries is 31st March 2012.

Your answer and entry details will be kept hidden as comments will not be displayed for the purposes of the competition. The winners of the competition will be chosen at random and the overall winner's name and three runners-up will be displayed here during the week beginning Monday 2nd April 2012. The overall winner will receive the Little Brown editor critique for up to the first 10,000 words of their novel.

The Apothecary’s Daughter achieved representation by the literary agency of the best-selling The Princess Diaries book series after the agency saw the opening chapters of The Apothecary’s Daughter on youwriteon.com’s top ten chart. The author was voted to the Top Ten while developing her novel on YouWriteOn.com and subsequently won the YouWriteOn.com book of the year award.
