Today is World Book Day, a day for authors and readers alike to celebrate! With a different slant today in London where schools are asking students not to dress up as their favorite characters for a change! We hope everyone enjoys the day and thank you to all our authors for adding to the world's literature for every reader to enjoy.

Schools across London are ditching the dress-up plans this World Book Day, asking children to wear pyjamas or dress as a word to try and help reduce the costs for families.

It is traditional for children to dress up as their favourite book character for the event, which is taking place today (Thursday, March 6), and aims to promote reading for pleasure.

But in recent times schools have adopted a more flexible approach in response to the cost-of-living crisis and the growing pressure on parents to create impressive costumes.

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Camden, William Davis Primary School in Shoreditch, and St George the Martyr C of E Primary School in Camden and Pimlico Primary School are embracing a vocabulary-themed World Book Day, encouraging children to dress up as words
