A Conflict of Angels
For Emma Johnson, an international cellist, the Spring of 1939 is the moment when her young innocence is lost forever.
At home, a would-be RAF pilot Bill Orde, a shy ex-grammer schoolboy from a working class background, comes abruptly into her life when he falls foul of her "bodyguard" on a train.
They are immediately attracted to each other, but later, on tour in Germany she meets and falls for a young high born Luftwaffe officer, Konrad von Lubrich, and is presented to Adolf Hitler.
Unknown to anyone she is a Jewess smuggling documents to help persecuted Jews leave the country.
As the year passes and reaches the fateful day of September 3rd, Emma realizes she is pregnant.
But who is the father, and will he survive the war?
David is born as the Battle of Britain rages in the sky above - and Bill and Konrad are on apposing sides - -
