A Difficult Journey James was born rich but at the age of two and a half years old, his father left his mother and his two brothers and two sisters in Malaysia for a woman in Hong Kong. James’s mother, Sum had to bear the burden in repaying the debts Marn left behind. He took out huge loans, committed a serious crime which ultimately caught up with him and yet he mistreated his own family till the last day of his life. His gambling habit on horse racing, womanising, an individual who would have meat for dessert and extravagance were non excusable. It took her years to repay such debts and at the same time she had to deal with the traumatic ordeal from their separation. His egotistical actions had eventually left a detrimental effect on the family which was not easily effaced if at all. James faced daily battles as he was growing up and beyond that. If he had been wealthy all along, he could not have witnessed this side of human nature and would not have known who his true friends and close relatives were. Some looked at him with open disdain.
