A Poor Man with Many Riches
This is the Story of an ordinary man’s not so ordinary life up to the age of 70
He is a man who dared to live his dream: from earliest memories of childhood in his Father’s Baker’s shop, located near the hugely vulnerable Lucas Factory, in war-torn Birmingham, through his sometimes hilarious experiences of the pitfalls of first love and what it was like to grow up during the war and its aftermath.
He chronicles life as a National Serviceman in the Fifties and tells of his adventures in Europe on a rocky old motor cycle. Onward then to Australia as a ‘£10 tourist’ and his amazing travels in the outback, living the nomadic life with his wife in an old Holden Van, and two companions in a Morris 1100 car; and how he finally returned to England via America.
It tells of his love affair with diving, begun in Australia, and his experiences as a diver on the fabulous Mary Rose project. His extraordinary life story, illustrated with his own talented drawings, is filled with wonderful experiences and amazing people written about with humour and sometimes sadness, a story to excite and inspire.
