Fighting Shadows

Morocco February 20th 2011. Inspired by people power in other Arab states, excited crowds overcome their fear of the security forces and take to the streets to welcome the Arab Spring. The next day, a young man regains consciousness in hospital. He has no memory of what happened, but a familiar paralysing dread tells him that survival depends on keeping his head down and asking no questions. He will leave the revolution to others braver than himself. Yet a few weeks later a trainee policeman finds himself taking down details of an assault that has also been posted on YouTube. It does not take a detective to work out that the beating was arranged by the secret police. Fighting Shadows tells the fictional story of one ordinary man’s fight for justice against a powerful, untouchable, shadowy enemy. With video evidence on his side, can he bring people power to bear? Will the justice system support him? And will anyone within the system have the courage to do the right thing?
