Memories of the Nineteen Hundreds
This is a memoir by Tom Lauwers, son of a Belgian father and an Irish mother. Sent with his mother to Ireland at the outbreak of World War Two, at the age of five, he went to school and university in Ireland, returning to Belgium for military service. A varied career then took him into advertising with Young and Rubicam among others, and later to work for the United Nations. The book recalls life in many parts of the world, including Dublin, Paris, Geneva and New York. It is a fascinating depiction of the world after a world war.
