The Art and Theory of Goalkeeping
Set in 1971 this is a story about an ordinary fourteen year old schoolboy who doesn't want to be ordinary. He wants to be a hero. The only trouble is he has no idea of how to make this happen. He is not a good student. He is no good at sport. He has no talent or skill that make him stand out among his peers. Nothing illustrates his lowly status more than the fact he is always being made to play in goal whenever there is a game of football. Nor is it perhaps surprising that he also becomes the victim of the school bully. And there is nothing that Leslie can do about it because he doesn't know how to fight back. That is until he learned the art and theory of goalkeeping.
