The Early Quaker Story

"The Early Quakers and the Kingdom of God" is a work of systematic theology. It places the first Friends (Quakers) into their ecclesiastical, social, political, and theological context during the turbulent years of mid-seventeenth century Britain, a time of civil war and intellectual ferment. The early Quakers were known during their time as a 'radical sectary' and they wanted to revolutionize the religious environment with their particular brand of spiritual insight. They took their inspiration from the Gospel Jesus but they emphasised the Inward Light of the Christ, which they conflated with the Kingdom of God.
