About This Author

Ian Atkinson joined the Royal Navy a few months after leaving school in 1979 and spent over thirty-two years rising slowly through the ranks serving on ships and largely on submarines. Leaving the RN in April 2011, he started work for the Submarine Support Management Group in Keynsham near Bristol where he now lives with his wife Anita and two cats.
