About This Author

My decision to write the books was a culmination of feeling a bit worthless after being rendered unemployed at 66 and a concern that as my brain was getting more stuffed full of current rubbish that I would lose all the important and wonderful memories I had experienced. Growing up in Glasgow amongst colour and characters abound set me of in a good footing for life. The books are all a little part of me, my humour, my sympathy, my love and my hopes and each one of the names is so real to me, wee Barbur Khan, 'crappy' Broon, 'Shorty' McGhee and big Wullie Twedo and not forgetting the Meenistur Steel. It is my hope that one day my grand children will discover my books and realise that their Papa was just as eccentric as they thought he was and the 'Odes' will make them pause for just a moment then smile or perhaps think in a caring way of others. Thank you for passing by and enjoy. Gerry Hiorns.

This Author's Books
