About This Author
I wanted to write ever since I was old enough to hold a pen, but I did not manage to complete a full novel until I was in my 30s. I have taken a twisty, winding road to where I am today! Starting out as an actress in London, I then switched course completely to become a secretary, and eventually wound up teaching in an agricultural college in Northamptonshire. Throughout most of my various careers, I have written - short stories, articles and novels - sometimes sitting on trains and in waiting rooms, and sometimes in the college staff room.
Taking an Open University Degree in history and literature, I was inspired to write on historical subjects, and when I became a professional genealogist, the two genres of writing and genealogy seemed to fit together very well. And as Monica Dickens once said (to paraphrase), all those different careers were all experience to feed my writing.
I currently live in south Warwickshire and alongside my ancestry research service, I am working on my next work, which is a historical novel set in Victorian theatre.
