David Baker is a qualified optometrist with over thirty years' experience in independent practice. He owns and runs a family practice, A. A. Baker Optometrists, in North London, that was established by his father in 1952. He has a strong involvement with a City livery company, the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (founded 1692, the oldest optical body in the world), as a Liveryman and, since 2013, a member of its Court. David has also worked as a freelance writer for over twenty years, contributing articles on optics, eye health, football and cricket to magazines and journals in the UK and US. He won the 2010 Frank Norville Media Prize for most interesting new contributor to optical journals.
