The author does not seek to deny any of the following: That he was born in Lancashire but now resides in the West Midlands; That he is an incurable supporter of Blackburn Rovers and enjoys the odd cake; That he got lucky with his choice of spouse and his children are good eggs. He does however categorically deny that he ate the last portion of trifle Christmas 2011. Furthermore, he would like to state that the bowl and spoon found behind the cushion of his chair and the small amount of cream stuck on the tip of his nose constitutes only circumstantial evidence of his culpability in this puzzling matter.
