Profile: Alene Ivey

About This Author

Alene Ivey was born in Glasgow but at the age of two, her parents emigrated to the warmth and sunshine of Kenya from the dark winters of post-war Scotland. After an idllyic youth in East Africa, Alene spent the early 70s travelling around Australia in a Kombi van before settling in Perth to raise a family. Alene now lives on a small island off the coast of Queensland with her husband Guy. She leads a busy life as a writer, painter and belly dancer and contributes to the community as an active member of the rural fire brigade. She has a strong fascination for the people she meets– their differences and what lies behind the facade they present to the world. She uses her writing to express these finds.
