Parents at one school are being told not to dress up their children for World Book Day because of concerns about cost.Staff at St Nicholas Priory School in Great Yarmouth sent out a Facebook message to parents on March 2 which asked pupils to come into school in normal uniform, and said that "members of staff will instead come up with an exciting costume to inspire the children".One said that it was "nice to see the school doing something different" by encouraging the teacher....

Many Congratulations to FeedARead authors Éamonn Ó hUallacháin and Kevin McMahom for their successful launch of the book "The Troubles in Creggan Parish 1969-2000"  in Crossmaglen, South Armagh. More that 100 people attended and all 200 copies of the book were sold.

Waterstones is buying the 115 year-old family-owned chain Foyles, saying the deal will help to "champion" real bookshops in the face of online rivals.The sale includes Foyles' well-known Charing Cross Road store in central London, which was relocated to larger premises in 2014.Waterstones said the deal would help booksellers fight back against Amazon's "siren call".The larger chain has 283 bookshops across the UK and northern Europe.View full BBC article
