A boy of Samoa:

This is the story of a boy growing up in the traditional lifestyle of a South Pacific Island, Samoa. It was a self-sufficient lifestyle that depended on the sea and the land. It tells of the changes that colonisation and Christianity brought to the islands and how the traditional culture had to adapt to these outside influences in order to survive. It is also the story of how the boy had to adapt to living in a western culture as he left the islands to further his education, and, in the end, to make a new life for himself.
