Annihilation - Book Two
In 1641, the Irish rebelled against English rule. Much of Ulster was returned to its original owners, Dublin Castle only narrowly escaped capture and an alternative government was established in Kilkenny. Since the rebels were all loyal to their king (King Charles I), Parliament sent its most ruthless general to Ireland, tasked with the defeat of the Confederacy and the submission of the Catholics. The MacDonogh Cartys of Duhallow take the Irish side. For much of the time, it looks as though they will survive as they had for centuries. In the end, however, it takes a French branch of their family to ensure their line.
