Set in southern England about five thousand years in the past. A Queen, as an old lady, tells a number of stories to her growing family about memorable events in her life. How, as a girl, she was chosen by a Prince to be his wife. Through her erotic introduction to making love, to how she becomes part of the establishment. When as one of those judging a murderer she relates the form of his gruesome end, and also the rare punishment of a female rumour-monger. With the death of the King she becomes Queen and moves to the palace. Where she meets a visiting Queen and later accompanies her eldest child to a mountainous kingdom to supervise her marriage to a Prince, heir to that distant throne. Closing with the parable of the huntsman.
