Hello-One-Dollar and Other Tales
Enter a fascinating world where fact and fable blend and circumstances lead ordinary people to do extraordinary things. A priest in Hispaniola banished for helping plantation slaves to escape; a former marijuana smoking, hell-raising Texan now organising pilgrimages to the Holy Land; a lonely medicine man in the Guyanese rainforest looking for a wife; the general with blood on his hands and 'Hello-One-Dollar', a young Nepalese girl who turned a street market into a magical place.
Trish Williams has travelled extensively making programmes for the BBC, from the continent of Africa to the Indian sub-continent; from South East Asia to Australasia, the Pacific and the Americas. As a woman travelling around alone in patriarchal countries, she was often the story and the trigger for heated discussions between male and female participants on training courses. Happenings, coincidences, unforeseen dangers all play a role in these stories that have now demanded to be heard.
