Leicestershire Myth & Legend - in verse
This book contains a number of folk tales in verse. The characters and locations are all well known Leicestershire Myths and Legends, and include Black Annis, the witch of Dane Hills; Bel the Giant; King Leir; Lady Jane Grey; The Blue Boar Inn, where King Richard III spent his last night, before death at Bosworth Field; George Davenport, Highwayman, the second 'Robin Hood'; James Cook, the last man in the Gibbet, and Joseph Carey Merrick, 'The Elephant Man'.
Each Myth or Legend has a short introduction, and then is followed by original verse, written by the author, and originally intended to be sung or told at Folk Night type events, or in schools.
This book is suitable for children as an educational product, but is also of interest to readers of Folk tales, Poetry and verse.
