Port hopping the Costas Brava and Dorada - colour version
This is a personal account of a few enjoyable months spent one summer aboard a live-in sports cruiser exploring the Catalonian coastline. This journey is hardly a blue-water sailing adventure, but rather, an opportunity to see the Costas Brava and Dorada together with all of their lighthouses, mountains, beaches and ports from the sea. Yet cruising at twenty knots can be invigorating.
At times you might be cruising several miles out to sea, where breakdowns and squalls occur when least expected, particularly along this coast, and beware of the tramontanas. So it is important for all skippers and their crews to be suitably experienced in the arts of boat-handling, navigation and pilotage in deep waters and in radio drills, before they embark on such adventures.
