About This Author

Michael Skyner has dyslexia amongst other things. He is a big kid in a bigger body. He got this from his father – he never grew up either. When he's not writing poetry, he writes zany comic fantasy for children and adults. He lives and works in Nottinghamshire. For Michael Skyner writing is the best fun that anyone could ever have. "I write because I enjoy it, it's the best therapy there is. To watch characters and plots develop is something akin to magic. I thoroughly recommend it to everyone." Statement As a psychotherapist working with disadvantaged children, I discovered my inner child’s voice. I write humorous tales of fantasy and historical fiction to encourage children to enjoy reading and have fun. I have been a member of four writing groups, including SCBWI. Last year I visited schools with a poetry workshop to encourage children, particularly those with dyslexia, to discover the joys of reading. I have published a book of poetry and short stories aimed at children who are reluctant readers.
