Profile: Karen Austen

About This Author

Canadian teacher and author, Karen Austen, completed her master’s degree and doctoral work in literature and creative writing at the State University of New York, with post-graduate studies in psychology and music. Long concerned with speaking the truth of women’s experience, her poetry, plays, songs and stories have appeared in anthologies and journals throughout the U.S. and Canada. Her other books include: Scenario for a Giantess and a Princess, and other plays; The Fearless Soprano, and other poems; Dream of the Southwest; Life as Cataract; and True Stories, vols. I and II. If “women’s work is never done,” she says, “then let it be the work of our imaginations, gleaning from experience a particularly feminine kind of wisdom that can serve ourselves, each other and our world....”
