Chalfont St Peter Old Burials and Curious Deaths

This book is an attempt to record as much detail as possible of the many people who lie buried in Chalfont St Peter’s burying grounds. The records are far from complete, but every effort has been made to glean names and dates of death or burial from all available sources. Also included are accounts of the famous, the heroic, the worthy and ennobled individuals, as well some of the ordinary folks who also contributed, in their own ways, to the richness of village life. Many of the more unusual and tragic deaths have also been explored. All profits from this book will go towards the maintenance of St Peter’s Garden, the closed burial ground which is now a special place of rest, reflection and remembrance, and which is currently being re-landscaped for the enjoyment of all.
