Each Slow Dusk: Clapton's War Dead - Colour Version
The church of St James the Great lies on the busy Lower Clapton Road, surrounded by buildings, and most of those who pass by probably don’t give it a second glance. It is open for services, but generally not at other times. Four First World War memorials remain inside, though they are now placed on the dividing wall so must have been relocated from elsewhere in the church. These record the names of the local men who died in this conflict. This book aims to record what is known about the lives and deaths of the men whose names appear on these memorials.
