SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHS

(Some of my paintings can be seen on www.ukartistsonline.com) I have started collecting and editing some of my photographs many of which were taken as studies for paintings using the automatic settings on my Pentax Optio LS 465. Many seemed worth looking at in their own right and the themes that emerged were water, sunlight, old buildings and nature. And there were fleeting moments captured on holidays in much photographed places. After working on the black and white versions I began to find that colour in photographs generally was a distraction from the other more interesting aspects of composition, texture and light. Sometimes unexpectedly an image reminded me of an abstract painting I had done which had originally had no connection with it. The book has been produced and edited using the picture editing tools in Microsoft Word rather than more sophisticated software. After experimenting with a proof copy printed through Feedaread I decided to go ahead using this inexpensive and author friendly publishing system. The initial impression on matt paper is very different from the usual glossy colour images we all see everyday,however I am pleased with the detail of the images that has been achieved.
