The velvet-blue curtains slowly closed on the coffin. Danny shed a tear for his father, Mark Dakin. He had committed suicide at the age of just forty-nine. ‘You know who’s responsible for his death don’t yer?’ snapped Zeph Torr, later at the wake. ‘No who?’ ‘It were that Ryan Fletcher, the property developer. He forced yer dad out of his premises and ruined his business.’ Shocked by this revelation Danny, head gardener at Harrington Hall, investigates further and realises it is true. Then and there he decided to get his revenge on Ryan Fletcher. When and how he did not know, but Danny did know one thing and that was when he made up his mind nothing would stop him.
