As time passes
The novel begins with the creation of a watch in a small workshop in Geneva. During the course of a year the watch appears in many European cities - as well as crossing the Atlantic – when it is bought, sold, lost or found many times and stolen twice (once at knifepoint).
The journey forms the background to a host of characters, differing in age, nationality and background, who are unknowingly linked by the watch. Snapshots of their lives reveal a wide range of motives, moods and ideals - from the selfish to the kind, the mean-spirited to the generous, and from betrayal to the need for forgiveness.
This kaleidoscope also tells how and why the watch touches the lives of the characters, sometimes lightly, sometimes with life-changing impact.
