Imogen Norriss hates Brookminster and everything about it. She was dragged to the town by her Mum, after she and Dad split up, when Imogen was five years old. Imogen hates Mum, too, because however often she asked, she was never told why the marriage failed. Now she’s twenty three and away from Brookminster for good. Dad’s found her work and a flat in Wyvern, where he lives with his second family. Tonight, Imogen’s seeing Dad at his home and meeting his wife and their children. It’s the first time she’s seen him since Christmas and it’s nearly the end of February, so she’d much rather have Dad to herself. Never mind, they’ll have other times on their own. After work, Imogen changes at the flat and drives to Dad’s house. She isn’t interested in his new family; she just wants to see him. He’s late coming home…
