THE DIAGNOSIS
The book starts with somebody obviously in distress. It is Meg getting some disturbing news.
We then go back to when Meg is eleven years old and the story of her life develops from there. This involves her mother dying, and Meg and her sisters ending up with a step mother who they dislike.
Meg meets the man who she thinks is the love of her life. She wants marriage as a way to escape her unhappy home life. Michael appears to meet all her needs.
Marriage does not turn out like Meg imagines but she does have two children; a girl and boy which make it all worthwhile. She is convinced this is her life until a man, who she knew years before, enters her life.
Meg had not particularly taken to Jeff when she first met him, but has quickly to revise this decision when she gets to know him better. In fact, they fall in love, but Meg cannot see a way they can be together. Jeff is very persuasive and he does not want to let her go. Meg finally moves in with him.
They both think life cannot get any better. They are so happy but, unfortunately, Meg develops cancer, which seems devastating news for them. Thankfully, she can be operated on and is given the all clear.
Once again life seems to be good for them, but is it or is there more waiting around the corner to put a blot on their happiness?
