Rolling In The Aisles
This is not a biography but these tales and the sense of humour come from my life as a retail manager. Shops, shoppers and shopping – a rich combination for comedy, and I should know. I have spent most of my working life in shops and I have been a shopper for a bit longer. Shops, shop managers and shop assistants, as well as shoppers, can be very, very annoying but, in the context of this book, they are entertainment palaces and intentional or unintentional comedians. Part 1 reflects on my Saturday job as a delivery boy.
Part 2 recalls the days, four decades ago, when I joined British Home Stores, Belfast as a Trainee Manager. Part 3 throws in some true (if a little enhanced) reflections of customers and their foibles. Parts 4 & 5 contain jokes and poems about retailing.
The book is written to amuse. It is my third book with a business-related theme - Retail Confidential and Much Calamity & The Redundance Kid are the other two.
Have a nice read!
