THE BEACONS WAY- 'A Discovery of Witchcraft'
THE BEACONS WAY – A Discoverie of Witchcraft.
In the 1980's I wrote and had published four successful Walkers Guides. This fifth guide, The Beacons Way - A Discoverie of Witchcraft, was my own personal favourite, but unable to find an interested publisher for it, I eventually lost heart and mothballed the project.
But now it has finally arrived! Originally conceived in 1988, The Beacons Way is a ramble through the uplands around the Aire Gap country twixt the Yorkshire Dales and the South Pennines, passing over three Beacons ...Pendle, Pinhaw and Beamsley with terminii at Whalley in Lancashire and Otley, Yorkshire.
This is no mere walker's guide however, being a journey through time and mystery as it explores the often curious history, traditions and folklore of a beautiful and intriguing part of upland Northern England, The book is profusely illustrated with drawings and photographs, Route maps, Bibliography and an index.
‘Beamsley Pinhaw, Pendle Hill,
Prospects fair each heart doe thrill,
I long to climb up Pendle, Pendle stands,
Rownd cop, survaying all ye wilde moorelands!’
