About the Author
I was born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1939, educated to grammar school level, good at sports, representing Bradford at football and cricket.
I served an apprenticeship as a draughtsman, then moving to estimating.
Spent 2 years in Australia and 28 years in South Africa, I returned to England in 2010 where I live with my wife Elena.
We live in the small town of Desborough in the county of Northamptonshire.
Born in Yorkshire made it difficult for me to fit into another county, but due to the friendly people in this area, I now feel that I have been accepted after four years
Having just retired and not knowing how to fill the days, Elena persuaded me to write my first book, the story of my life ‘Jam Tomorrer’, closely followed by ‘The Pure Magic of True Love’, the story of four families, all related but living different lives.
The lawn bowls tournament in the book acknowledges the friendly bowlers of both Desborough bowling clubs where I bowl.
The beautiful surrounding countryside full of small wild animals was my inspiration to write fifteen story books for children, particularly the nearby Foxton Locks where Elena and I spend many delightful hours walking, and feeding the ducks.
My latest book is The Life of a Saxon Knight.
My wife and I enjoy visiting castles and museums so we live in the best country, we both love history, nature and animals, and when we are able, travel in Europe.
I hate injustice, but I am pleased to say that so do many other residents around here.
I am into any sport played with a ball, and a Chelsea supporter of long standing.
Hailing from a coal mining community, I was brought up on rugby league.
I enjoy reading, and Wilbur Smith and Robert Ludlum are my favourite authors, but if I pick up a book that I like, I will read it to the end.
My son Barry and his wife Dorcas gave me two wonderful Grandchildren Liam and Sophie.
I lost my darling wife Susan to cancer, but she left for me my daughter Sarah, she is my baby who cares for me the most. Elena’s beautiful daughter Valentina is my inspiration to write.
